The Stars are Starting to Align

As they begin to line up, we can plan those successful promotions and events to align with these stars.

Everyone loves it when the stars start to align, and good things are on the horizon. That’s true in life and in business.

Uncertainty is and has always been the one thing that erodes consumers’ confidence. When consumers lack confidence their level of spending declines greatly.

After a year of mostly doom and gloom and an extremely high level of uncertainty, it appears that the stars are starting to align themselves.

COVID appears to be decreasing significantly. Gallup  Research reported on March 5th:

  • 60% of Americans say the COVID-19 situation is improving, a trending high
  • 22% worry about access to COVID-19 tests, down from 60% last April

The latest stimulus plan has been approved and the monies are already being distributed.

  • President Biden signed the COVID Relief Bill on Thursday, March 11th
  • Stimulus Checks are expected to start being sent this month

Tax returns are starting to pour back to consumers.

  • The majority of tax refunds are sent within 2 weeks if they have direct deposit.  The peak season for returns is late March to late April.

Consumer confidence is growing.

  • The Conference Board Consumer Confidence Index®  reported on Feb 23rd

Index now stands at 91.3 (1985=100), up from 88.9 in January. The Present Situation Index—based on consumers’ assessment of current business and labor market conditions—climbed from 85.5 to 92.0.”

And last but not least, SPRING is in the air.
Yes Spring, as in the season. All of these elements coming together could not come at a better time.

When the stars start to align like this, business owners should be rubbing their hands together with a big ole grin and beginning to plan and prepare for the opportunities that lie ahead.
