Everyone Loves a Good Story

At the heart of every successful marketing and branding campaign is a great story.  GEICO’s gecko, the Budweiser frogs and lizard, Coke’s heartwarming, “I’d like to teach the world to sing”, and Farmers Insurance, “We know a thing or two because we’ve seen a thing or two”, are all great stories.

The Paul Harvey ad for Dodge Trucks, “So God made a Farmer”, clearly motivated audiences, farmers, and those that think like and respect the farming tradition, to consider Dodge trucks over Ford and Chevy.  Storytelling has always been one of the most powerful tools in a salesperson or advertising copywriter’s toolbox.

In our Ten Powerful Storytelling Tips, we recommend that to be a great storyteller in any of the marketing platforms available today, you need to start with a strategy.  Meaning, what do you want your business to be known for?  Then, let your ads tell that story.

Great stories are not only listened to more intently, but the ad recall along with the word of mouth advertising is much higher.
